Hello! This past week has been a busy and entertaining one for me. I went out to dance and just enjoyed the night life!! Oh how wonderful it is to be young. Well okay, so as I was out I heard one of my favorite songs to dance too. "Long Heel, Red Bottoms" by Trina. And of course earlier that day I saw something on Pinterest that I just had to tell you about. If any of you are on a college budget like me, you can not afford to buy heels besides the ones at Charlotte Russe, during happy hour, on Saturdays from 3-6pm. I'm just saying.
So I've posted 5 easy steps to creating your own Red Bottom heels, that will cost you probably nothing since I know you all probably have these materials at home.
Yes, I realized these heel bottoms aren't red, but you can do what ever color you want!
Before you begin:
- Grab a pair of your favorite old heels that you never wear anymore because the bottoms look trashed. Than grab some Rubbing Alcohol, a Brush, Nail polish (white prime & whatever color you want), and Nail polish Remover.
- Prep your shoes by cleaning the soles with rubbing alcohol, this well help the color stick better.
- Prime your shoes with white nail-polish. You can use the nail polish brush, but I suggest getting one a little bit bigger so it goes faster. Once you paint the sole of each shoe, let them dry (about 10 minutes).
- Clean your brush between colors using nail polish remover, and start painting the soles the color of your choice. You will probably need two coats, but be sure to let the first coat dry before starting on your second coat.
- Let dry for about thirty minutes, just to be safe & you’re done!

And there you have it! Your favorite pair of gorgeous heels are back in action! Also I left a link below for anyone who wants to continue making their old heels into prime time runway status. The first link is to Pinterest and the second is a link to A pair - and - A spare blog. She posts all of these cute ideas to do with your heels. My favorite is the spiked heel look. So check her out!
Oh and here's the video to the song i was talking about... Long Heels, Red bottoms..step, step...
BYE PINNERS!
Just amazing...... I can only imagine neon colors for the night clubs!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat Idea - Im going to try it!
This is AWESOME!!! I am totally doing this!!
ReplyDeleteIt's really simple and easy so have fun!
DeleteThis is a really cool idea that is simple enough for anyone. The best part about it is you can chose whichever color you want, instead of being limited to 'Red Bottoms' like you are with Christian Louboutin. This is so cute and I cant wait to share with my modeling troupe. We could use this in shows or photo shoots.
ReplyDeleteYou can also keep changing it up. Once you paint them blue the next time you go out you can paint it another color to match your outfit! I'm glad you liked it.
DeleteThis is such a cute and affordable way to revitalize a pair of old heels! I definitely need to try this on a few pairs of heels I have that have just been sitting in my closet. Painting the bottom of the heel gives the shoe a completely new look, I love it! The steps are so easy to follow, and I definitely have all the supplies to do this. Thanks for the great idea!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I hope you put your old heels to use again!
DeleteI was up a little late reading my fellow bloggers and came across your long heels post. I wasn't going to comment but said what the heck, why not? I found it to be very detailed and well executed. If I was ever going to wear heels, I would definately use your idea. Especially to save money and have so many options by just painting over the old color. Your site looks good and keep us pinterested.
ReplyDeleteOMG!!! I am rummaging through my closets to find the perfect heels for this as soon as I can. Thank you for post things! I have been trying to find new ways to reinvent some old tired looking shoes from parties past.
